Mexican boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez has decided to part ways with Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) following a contractual dispute. Alvarez, who signed a lucrative three-fight, $100 million contract with PBC in June, only completed one fight under the deal, defeating Undisputed Super-Welterweight Champion Jermell Charlo in a 12-round bout.

This fight was lackluster in the opinion of many due to Charlo's performance. For someone who claimed to be a lion, he certainly didn't fight like one. Charlo was dropped by Canelo's textbook right hand, but even this wasn't enough for boxing experts to be sold.

Canelo's contractual dispute arose when Alvarez demanded a $35 million fight against Jermall Charlo, the older of the Charlo twins and the WBC Middleweight Champion. PBC also refused to name David Benavidez as an opponent for him in the last two fights on his deal. Al Haymon and his promotion were unwilling to meet Alvarez's financial and matchmaking demands for the proposed fight, leading to a breakdown in negotiations and ultimately, Alvarez's decision to part ways with the promotion.

Alvarez's tenure with PBC was brief but eventful, showcasing his skills and cementing his status as one of the sport's top pound-for-pound fighters. His decision to leave PBC marks a new chapter in his career, as he looks to secure lucrative fights and add to his already impressive legacy in the boxing world.

Fans and pundits alike will be eagerly watching to see where Alvarez goes next and who he will face in the ring. With his talent and star power, Alvarez is sure to attract interest from promoters and fighters alike, setting the stage for potentially historic matchups in the future.

Many people believe that Canelo's next stop on his journey is DAZN/Matchroom, which plays host to Jaime Munguia and Puerto Rican sensation Edgar Berlanga. Berlanga and Munguia are both coming off of impressive knockout victories, so it is out of the question to say that neither man has earned the opportunity to fight Canelo. A return to DAZN would mean Eddie Hearn holds the cards in the super-middleweight division. We could see major power plays through Hearn's promotion if this move comes to pass.

Stay tuned for more updates on Canelo Alvarez's next move and his quest for boxing greatness.

[Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia: The Showdown at Barclays' Center]

Two of boxing's rising stars, Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia are on a collision course that could see them face off at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. With both fighters boasting impressive records and eager to prove themselves in the ring, fans are eagerly anticipating what could be a blockbuster showdown.

Haney, with an unblemished record of 31-0, has established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the lightweight division. Known for his slick boxing skills and ring IQ, Haney has recorded 15 of his wins by knockout, showcasing his ability to finish fights decisively. His most recent victory over former WBC Super Lightweight World Champion, Regis "Rougarou" Prograis, saw Haney outclass his opponent over 12 rounds, cementing his status as a top-tier fighter.

On the other hand, Garcia, with a record of 21-1, is known for his explosive punching power and quick hands. His latest win over Oscar Duarte, a previously undefeated Mexican, highlighted Garcia's ability to dominate his opponents with precision and timing. Garcia turned the fight around rather quickly, dismantling Duarte’s guard with ease. Garcia was the first opponent to wobble Duarte as well, which is a testament to his power. Despite all these feats, Garcia's career has not been without setbacks, as he suffered a knockout loss to WBA Lightweight Champion Gervonta "Tank" Davis in a previous bout.

Garcia has gone on a press tour recently, claiming that the loss happened because he was weight drained. Garcia claims that the rehydration clause Tank put in their contract severely limited his physical capabilities. Many people are under the impression that rehydration clauses are a net negative for the sport. However, it is important to remember that weight classes are a dimension of the sport that is very open.

For example, height is irrelevant in what determines weight classes. An individual can be 6’3” at lightweight. It would be a shock to have someone that tall weighing in on the scales at 135 lbs. Sebastian Fundora is a real-life example of this. Standing at 6'6", 154 lbs, Fundora is an imposing figure in his division. He stands well above most of his opposition, but the public has regularly expressed disdain towards him fighting at super-welterweight.

The potential showdown between Haney and Garcia has fans and pundits alike buzzing with excitement. One of the key aspects of the fight will be whether Haney can neutralize Garcia's left hook, a weapon that proved to be his downfall in the loss to Davis. Haney's defensive skills and ability to adapt to his opponent's style will be put to the test against Garcia's aggressive and fast-paced approach.

Both fighters have expressed interest in facing each other, and with the contract finally signed, the stage is set for a compelling matchup that could headline a major boxing event at the Barclays Center. With Haney's technical prowess and Garcia's knockout power, the fight promises to be a thrilling encounter that could have a significant impact on the lightweight division.

As negotiations continue, fans eagerly await confirmation of the fight date and venue, hoping to witness two of boxing's brightest talents go head-to-head in the ring. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates on what could be the fight of the year.
